Overview

 Responsible for oversight and coordination of all daily activities and services of people supported and staff in his/her charge on and off the dayhab site as well as provide clinical support designed to maximize the intellectual, social, and emotional development and functioning of people supported receiving services under the supervision of a Ph.D. Psychologist.

Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

 

  • Responsible for ensuring all required documentation is appropriately completed and maintained as well as developing individualized staff action plans (and associated documents) in conjunction with people supported
  • Coordinates appropriate site and community-based activities for people supported
  • Directly supervises Direct Support Professionals/ Direct Support Professionals 1:1s
  • Oversees, and when needed, participates in individual transports to and from program as well as to and from volunteer locations and other community based activities
  • Maintains communication with parent/correspondent and appropriate service providers of people supported regarding progress, problems, individual needs and all pertinent information that needs to be disseminated. 
  • Provides Direct Care Services to people supported as needed
  • Insures protection of people supported from neglect/abuse during program hours. Reports incidents to administration in a timely fashion
  • Appropriately documents all physical plant issues as well as ensure all furniture, equipment and supplies are properly maintained
  • Attends meetings, conducts observations and consults staff as a means to discuss, review and gauge each person’s progress, problems and individual needs
  • Trains people supported to perform functional/meaningful and/or volunteer job tasks to the best of their abilities
  • To promote and reinforce all agency philosophies including the guiding principles
  • Required to successfully complete and maintain all required trainings/certifications determined by program/position needs
  • Ensures that work-related safety procedures are in place and are being adhered to by staff and reports any observed or discovered unsafe act or a potentially hazardous situation to supervisor
  • Provides individual, collateral, and/or group interventions in conjunction with support plans
  • Provides on-site and off-site clinical interventionn
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations, which may include assessment of adaptive behavior, emotional functioning and mental status, including preference assessments and Functional Behavior Assessments
  • Design and implement behavior support plans, monitoring plans and/or dementia guidelines to support positive behaviors. Provide follow-up for documentation, support, and implementation of plans.
  • Provide staff training in positive behavior support strategies
  • Review data and provide summaries to appropriate providers as requested
  • Monitor individuals’ progress according to support plans and make modifications when indicated
  • Provide crisis intervention and subsequent assessments
  • Performs additional duties as requested by supervisor
  • Participate in regular supervisory contact with licensed psychologist or Assistant Director/Clinical Supervisor

 

Personal outcome measures’ training is required prior to completion of evaluations and assessments.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Psychology/ a minimum of 1 year experience working with people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities /supervisory experience (preferred)/ familiar with day habilitation regulations (preferred)/ has Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA) (preferred)
  • Qualified NYS driver’s license
  • Computer skills preferred
  • AMAP/CPR/First Aid/SCIP-R and defensive driving training preferred.

Physical Aspects:  May include, but are not limited to, lifting and transferring of an adult person supported.
