Overview

Assists in performing various farm and greenhouse duties in an indoor and outdoor setting, as assigned by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assists in moving supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Monitors inventory of supplies and notifies team leader when the need for replenishment arises.
  • Helps with greenhouse/nursery and property-related activities including planting, transplanting, deadheading, cutback, clean-up, hand-watering, weeding, pruning, mulching.
  • Ensures cleanliness of the property (including farmhouse and greenhouse) through proactive monitoring/walkthroughs.
  • Cleaning out pens/paddocks and facilities.
  • Feeding and caring for livestock (goats, pig, ponies, chickens, ducks, etc.) and small animals.
  • Moving and refilling feed, hay, and other supplies and materials.
  • Supports Management staff with learning and hands-on activities with Day Hab, Program Participants, Volunteers, Visitors, etc.
  • Provide support to the team by developing flyers for internal communication and taking photos and short videos for use on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Notifies supervisor of problems/difficulties in performing job duties.
  • Performs additional related duties as requested by supervisor.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma and NYS Driver’s License preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor, with ability to lift up to 50 lbs.; ability to understand instructions given by supervisor. 
  • Flexible; able to accept changes in job duties. 

 

Physical aspects may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50 lbs.
