Overview

To provide services designed to maximize the intellectual, social, and emotional development and functioning of people supported under the supervision of Assistant Director of Psychology Services and Ph.D. licensed psychologist. This is a Part Time and/or Per Diem position and is therefore classified as non-exempt

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, collateral, and/or group interventions in conjunction with support plans
  • Provides on-site and off-site clinical interventions
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations, which may include assessment of adaptive behavior, emotional functioning and mental status, including preference assessments and Functional Behavior Assessments
  • Design and implement behavior support plans, monitoring plans and/or dementia guidelines to support positive behaviors. Provide follow-up for documentation, support, and implementation of plans
  • Provide staff training in positive behavior support strategies
  • Review data and provide summaries to appropriate providers as  requested
  • Monitor peoples’ progress according to support plans and make modifications when indicated
  • Participate and communicate with team, case conferences/meetings
  • Maintain clinical documentation and complete appropriate periodic reviews
  • Participate in regular supervisory contact with licensed psychologist or Assistant Director/Clinical Supervisor
  • Provide crisis intervention and subsequent assessments
  • Performs all other related duties as requested by supervisor
  • Ensure that work-related safety procedures are in place and are being adhered to by staff. Observance of an unsafe act or a potentially hazardous work environment must be immediately reported to supervisor and/or safety committee.
  • Receive training on POM and CQL along with Positive Behavior Supports and FBA.

Qualifications

  • Possess at least a Master’s degree from a program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions, and documented training in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development; or
  • Possess a national board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA) or a NYS license as a Behavior Analyst (LBA); or[and a Master's degree in:
    • behavior analysis; or
    • a field closely related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by OPWDD; or]
  • Possess a New York State license in mental health counseling; and have been employed as a Level 2 BIS, at the master’s degree level, for three years.

Physical Aspects may include but are not limited to lifting and transferring of an adult/child.
